On Thursday, Nov 19, Lil Yachty held a virtual concert for his fans and it was hosted by Headliner. It was an entertaining and successful performance and a good experience for a concert goer.
In the concert’s virtual lobby, there was a live chat for fans who can engage with Yachty in the show. There was a merch shop that sold clothing, including a collaboration with Chinatown Market, and private virtual meet and greets with Yachty himself.
Since it was running out of a studio, there were different sets and also green screens for various CGI and animated effects. This set a fun environment for the concert. Even characters were created like Baby Yachty pictured on the flyer below:
Lil Boat started off the show by playing his runaway hit song on TikTok titled, “Coffin,” which was an energetic start to the show. After he played various tracks off his recent album, “Lil Boat 3.” Yachty then jumped into the archives and began playing older music.
Yachty had his DJ play one of the classics, “Yacht Club” that features Juice Wrld who the world tragically lost in December 2019. Boat shared how he personally feels about the song on the show before his performance.
“This is one of my favorite songs that I have ever made,” Lil Yachty said. “ It really is one of my favorites that I’ve made.”
He even previewed unreleased fans in attendance a video of the two making an unreleased song that fans online have titled, “Osama.” It was clear in this performance that Juice Wrld meant a lot to Yachty as a person, not just a musician.
He wasn’t done previewing new stuff there, Yachty announced in the show that he re-did Reese’s Puffs jingle and played it for the audience. Boat said it will be releasing any day from now so, be on the lookout!
Rapper Tee Grizzley appeared alongside Yachty to perform their song “From the D to the A” and fans were going wild in the comments at the time. The two have a plethora of songs together in their respective discographies.
In addition to the T-Shirts collaboration, Chinatown Market also hosted a comedy skit during the show. Bahd Bhabie featured as a guest for Yachty’s, “Morning Show.” This was a break from performing but a way to still entertain the audience which was unique.
Other than the 10-minute brief power outage mid-show, it was really entertaining as a concert member. Virtual concerts are only going to get more popular if the pandemic continues. There’s so much that’s got to happen behind the scenes to pull off this event.
