We had the pleasure of having a quick conversation with entrepreneur & designer Lucy Boogaerts. Lucy Boogaerts, grew up knowing she wanted to work in the fashion design industry, and sure enough a few years later she’s been killing the game. Starting with her own established brand Gucy (Goose-y), working side by side with street fashion icon KidSuper Studios, and in several Paris Fashion Weeks.
Culture Captures had the pleasure of having a conversation with entrepreneur & designer Lucy Boogaerts. Lucy covers everything in between starting a brand to designing for Paris fashion week. The LA-based fashion designer, stylist, and creative gave the run-down of her career path which shows the endless opportunities in the fashion world. After promising feedback of Lucy’s own clothing business, titled “Gucy” (Goose-y), she has been able to showcase her own work, while still being able to collaborate with others in the industry. Her work features abstract designs of recycled garments that have her own twist. The eccentric style involves stitching and sewing to portray her ideas in a clothing deliverable. She designs specifically tie dye cross-bred t-shirts, AKA she tie dyes two separate shirts, and hand sews one half and another half of the second shirt down the middle. Check out the pictures below to check out some of our favorite work she’s done. The emphasis of sustainability is preserved in her work, as each article is a one of one piece. It is intriguing to see how the process of ordering clothing was eliminated, with more focus on resale stores for the principal source of product.
We were also able to explore Lucy’s previous collaborations with NYC fashion designer Colm Dillaine, who has his own brand KidSuper Studios. We picked her brain about her work with Colm in Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2020 featuring his collection which dropped this month [Always Running XXX].
