On March 5th, Drake’s new EP Scary Hours 2, the sequel to Drake’s January 2018 Scary Hours. Fans are definitely hearing this and getting excited over his upcoming album, Certified Lover Boy that was set to have been released in January but was unfortunately postponed due to Drake’s recovery for a torn ACL. While many were expecting the album, Drake decided to deliver 3 new songs, including the most popular track “What’s Next?” & secured features from Lil Baby and longtime friend Rick Ross.
As an amuater fan of Drake, I really enjoyed these tracks. He gave fans an old sound that people were probably not expecting, but it was something that I think excited fans, myself personally. It was a bit of typical vocals and a bit of the MC side of Drake. The production was great on every track. Cardo was the main producer for “Wants and Needs”, a fellow Minnesotan who produced hits like “Goosebumps” by Travis Scott and “God’s Plan” by Drake. These tracks gave me a If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late type of feel and I really enjoyed it. Not only was his flow good, but the features carried as well. I especially liked Lil’ Baby on “Wants and Needs”, as this pairing always creates bangers together. Overall, this project was pretty good, and while I am disappointed that it wasn’t an album, I am excited for what is to come!
