After 2 years of the release of “Unlocked,” Denzel Curry drops a new album, “Melt My Eyez See Your Future” on Friday March 25th. It contains features from T-Pain, Rico Nasty, 6lack, J.I.D, Powers Pleasant, slowthai, and more. It also was supported by lead singles Walkin, Zatoichi (feat. slowthai), and Troubles (feat. T-Pain).
Producers on this album include Kenny Beats, who was the main producer of Unlocked. It also got some help from JPEGMAFIA, and Thundercat. The album contains 14 tracks, and 1 music video for the track “Troubles” with T-Pain.
When “Walkin” released as the lead single, it became a top 5 song for me that was released in 2022, and that stays true after this release. The beat switch in this track is exactly what I would expect him to thrive on, and he did exactly that. All 3 of the lead singles were very strong for this album, and portray the vibe very well in this LP. The transitions from song to song are also very well put together and just sounds completed, and that you’re essentially supposed to listen to this album in order, but why wouldn’t you. Bridget Perez and Karriem Riggins bring some great female vocals to the songs “Mental” and “Angelz.”
This album will be up there in the Album of the Year conversation for some time, and will be in rotation for a while. As of right now it is sitting at #2 behind $NOT’s album “Ethereal,” which dropped on February 11th. The Miami-Dade native never disappoints when it comes to full length projects, and he showed it here once again that he deserves to be recognized on top of the game.
